A slight drop in temperatures is forecast on Monday, bringing cold weather conditions in most parts of the country, with clouds at low altitudes and a chance for scattered showers in the northern region, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.
The JMD warned of low horizontal visibility due to fog formation, and of frost formation during early morning hours which may lead to slippery road.
On Tuesday, the impact of a very cold air mass affecting the country will deepen again, pushing temperatures 9-11 degrees Celsius below their seasonal average, with cloudy skies and rain showers in Jordan’s western areas.
Light snow flurries are also expected in areas located 900m above sea level, while strong dust-laden winds will prevail in the desert, the JMD added.
Cold weather conditions will persist on Wednesday despite a slight rise in temperatures, with northwesterly moderate to brisk winds.
Mercury in Amman today is forecast to reach a high of 7 degrees Celsius and a low of 0C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a fair 18C, dipping to 7C during night hours.
