Temperatures on Sunday will slightly rise but remain below annual average, as the Kingdom continues to be under the influence of a very cold air mass, with cold and partly cloudy weather countrywide and a chance for scattered showers in the northern region, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

At night, extremely cold weather will prevail with clouds at low altitudes, causing fog formation and low visibility, while winds will be westerly moderate, the JMD reported, warning of the danger of frost in high mountainous areas.

On Monday, temperatures are expected to drop slightly, however will remain below their seasonal rates with cold weather.

The impact of the very cold air mass will deepen again on Tuesday, pushing temperatures 10 degrees Celsius below their seasonal average, with rain showers forecast in Jordan’s western areas. Light snow flurries are also forecast over the hilltops, the JMD added.

Mercury in Amman today is forecast to reach a high of 8 degrees Celsius and a low of 1C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a fair 20C, dipping to 10C during night hours.
