The Kingdom on Wednesday will be affected by a khamasini depression, bringing dry and dusty weather, with clouds at different altitudes and scattered showers, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.
At night, the khamasini depression will be followed by a cold air mass which will bring rain and below average temperatures. Winds will be westerly moderate to brisk, with low horizontal visibility due to sandstorms, especially in the Kingdom’s southern and eastern regions.
The cold air mass will continue through Thursday, accompanied by a depression centered over Cyprus that will push temperatures down and bring occasional heavy rain in the northern and central parts of the country.
The impact of the depression will deepen on Friday, with extremely cold weather conditions prevailing countrywide as mercury levels tangibly drop. Heavy downpour is also forecast accompanied by hail, while areas of 1,100 meters above sea level may see snow flurries.
Mercury in the capital Amman today will range between a high of 15 degrees Celsius and a low of 6C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a fair 23C, sliding to 15C at night.
