The weather on Sunday is expected to be cold in most parts of the country, except in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba where it will be pleasant, with low clouds and southwesterly moderate to brisk winds, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.
On Monday, the Kingdom will be affected by a very cold air mass associated with an air depression centered over Cyprus, pushing temperatures sharply down and bringing chilly and partly cloudy to cloudy weather with intermittent rain in the northern, central and southwestern areas, accompanied by thunder and hail at times, the JMD added.
A chance for light snow showers mixed with rain is also forecast over the high mountain peaks, while winds will be southwesterly with strong gusts exceeding 70 km/h and blowing dust, the department predicted, noting that rainfall will be heavier in the evening and night hours over the northern, central and some parts of the eastern regions.
Tuesday is expected to bring in similar chilly, cloudy and rainy weather conditions with southwesterly winds, picking up at times, the JMD further said.
The highs in Amman and other highlands across Jordan today will range between 9 and 12 degrees Celsius, dropping at night to 7C or even 2C in the southern highlands. In the Gulf city of Aqaba, it will be warmer with mercury levels reaching a high of 20C and a low of 10C.
