Emirati ambassador to Amman Ahmed Ali Balushi on Wednesday said that about 200,000 Jordanian residents are currently in the UAE, occupying various professions and running commercial ventures with great successes, through which they contribute to the march of development in their second country.
Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on the occasion of his country’s 50th National Day, the envoy said that the UAE and Jordan have a long history of bilateral cooperation, with an annual trading volume of $1.5 million and more than $1.5 billion of Emirati investments in Jordan; distributed over infrastructure, transportation, tourism, agriculture, industry and renewable energy projects.
He highlighted the two country’s compatible stances toward Arab, Islamic and humanitarian issues, most notably the Palestinian issue, praising Jordan’s efforts in defending the rights of the Palestinian people in the regional and international arenas.
The envoy expressed keenness to exchange bilateral competencies, and transfer the Emirati e-government experience by conducting an initiative to support the e-government project in Jordan.
