The United States has pledge to donate1.1 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccine to poorer nations, U.S. President Joe Biden announced on Tuesday night while receiving a COVID-19 booster shot, according to the Washington Post.
“We know that to beat this pandemic and to save lives, to keep our children safe, our schools open, our economy going, we need to get folks vaccinated,” the president said, stressing that people who have received Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccinations could get booster doses.
U.S. health authorities have recommended boosters for three categories of people: those 65 and older, those 18-64 with an underlying medical condition such as diabetes or obesity, and those who are especially exposed to the virus because of their work or where they live.
