PM visits newly-opened cardiac catheterization unit at Al-Bashir hospital complex

 Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Sunday visited a newly-opened cardiac catheterization unit at the Specialized Surgery Hospital at the Al-Bashir Hospital Complex in eastern Amman. The Specialized Surgery Hospital was opened early in July but the cardiac catheterization unit was planned to be opened three months after.

However, during a July 7th visit to the government-run hospital, the prime minister ordered the stakeholders to speed up the process and ensure the unit starts operations in a 45-day period. On August 19th, the unit performed its first two catheterizations followed by 4 on Sunday.

The Specialized Surgery Hospital is a state-of-the-art JD7.5-million clinic specializing in thoracic, vascular, catheter and heart surgery and will also serve as a referral hospital and a training facility for cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons, according to Minister of Health Firas Hawari.
