Jordan on Thursday and Friday will be affected by a new heat wave, pushing temperatures 3-4 degrees above annual average and bringing hot weather in the Badia areas, and scorching conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, while it will be relatively hot in the highlands and the plains.
In a daily brief, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said that winds will be northwesterly moderate to brisk at times, warning the public of direct exposure to sunlight.
On Saturday, mercury levels will drop few degrees, but similar weather conditions will continue to persist, with northwesterly moderate to brisk winds, the JMD noted.
The highs in Amman and other highlands across the Kingdom today will range between 31 and 35 degrees Celsius, dropping at night to 22C or even 17C in the southern highlands, the JMD added. The weather will be hotter in the port city of Aqaba with highs jumping to 42 degrees and lows sliding to 27C.
