Sirens sound in Tel Aviv, several areas in Israel

Sirens sounded Tuesday morning in Tel Aviv and in several areas near to the Gaza Strip, and explosions were heard but no injuries were reported.

The Israeli radio said 26 rockets have been fired so far from the Gaza Strip, adding that one shell landed in the yard of a house in Sderot, causing no casualties.

It said schools and work were suspended due to the tense security conditions in the main southern cities.

Earlier, Israeli warplanes bombed the house of a senior leader of the Islamic Jihad, Baha Abu al-Atta, killing him and his wife.
