Attempt to smuggle gold, diamond foiled

The Jordan Customs Department’s anti-smuggling cadres foiled an attempt to smuggle clothes, shoes and bags of various brands.

The department said in a press statement on Wednesday that it had seized the 10 thousand smuggled items in secret hideouts in a stone truck.

The teams also seized a person in possession of gold, weighing 2 kg and 500 carats of diamonds, in which he paid the customs duties and fines amounting to JD85 thousand.
