Cold air mass to bring rain on Wednesday

shahennews

The Kingdom on Wednesday will be affected by a cold air mass accompanied by a depression centered over Cyprus, which will bring below average temperatures, occasional rain, thunder and hail in the northern and central regions, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

A slight chance of light snow showers in high mountainous areas is also expected, with southwesterly strong winds.

The weather department warned of the danger of low visibility due to fog formation in the early morning hours over mountainous areas, and in Badia areas due to dust-raising winds, as well as the danger of slippery roads in areas experiencing rainfall.

The impact of the depression will deepen on Thursday, with mercury levels marking 9-11 degrees below average, which will bring very cold weather in most parts of the country, with heavy downpours accompanied by thunder, hail and light snow. Winds will be northwesterly brisk, stirring dust in the Badia.

Similar chilly weather will persist on Friday as the impact of the cold air mass subsides, with frost formed in many areas and westerly moderate to brisk winds.

Mercury in the capital Amman today will range between a high of 10 degrees Celsius and a low of 2C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a fair 19C, sliding to 10C at night.
