حذّرت الصين، الثلاثاء، الولايات المتحدة من مغبة نشر صواريخ في منطقة آسيا والمحيط الهادئ، داعيةً أيضا دول المنطقة، خصوصا اليابان وكوريا الجنوبية وأستراليا، إلى أن تكون “حذرة”.
وقال المدير العام لمراقبة الأسلحة في الخارجية الصينية فو كونغ “الصين لن تبقى مكتوفةً، ستكون مضطرة إلى اتّخاذ تدابير انتقاميّة في حال نشرت الولايات المتحدة صواريخ متوسطة المدى في هذه المنطقة من العالم”.
وردًا على سؤال، لم يرد فو أن يقول ما سيكون عليه رد بكين. وحذر قائلاً “ندعو الدول المجاورة إلى توخّي الحذر وعدم السّماح بنشر الصواريخ الأميركيّة على أراضيها، لأن هذا لن يكون في مصلحة أمنها القومي”.
وكان وزير الدفاع الأميركي مارك إسبر أعلن السبت أنّ الولايات المتّحدة تُريد الإسراع في نشر صواريخ جديدة في آسيا، خلال الأشهر المقبلة إذا كان ذلك ممكنًا، لاحتواء توسّع النفوذ الصيني في المنطقة.
وردًا على سؤال عن احتمال أن تنشر واشنطن أسلحة تقليدية جديدة متوسطة المدى في آسيا، قال إسبر في الطائرة التي أقلته الى سيدني في إطار جولة في آسيا تستمر أسبوعا “نعم (..) نُريد أن نقوم بذلك في أقرب وقت”.
وأضاف لصحفيّين رافقوه في جولته “أفضل أن يتم ذلك خلال أشهر، لكنّ هذه الأمور تستغرق عادة وقتا أطول من المتوقع”.
ولم يُحدّد إسبر المكان الذي تعتزم فيه واشنطن نشر تلك الأسلحة، متابعًا “لا أريد التكهّن (..) إنّها أمور نناقشها دائمًا مع الحلفاء”.
وبعد اتّهامها روسيا بانتهاكها منذ أعوام، انسحبت الولايات المتحدة الجمعة من معاهدة نزع الأسلحة النووية المتوسّطة المدى، التي وقّعتها واشنطن وموسكو خلال الحرب الباردة للحدّ تمامًا من الصواريخ البرية، التي يراوح مداها بين 500 و5500 كلم.
ويمكن لواشنطن بذلك أن تقارع الصين لأن القسم الأكبر من ترسانة بكين يضم أسلحة كانت محظورة بموجب المعاهدة المذكورة، التي لم توقّعها الصين.
واعتبر إسبر أن على الصين ألا تفاجأ بالخطط الأميركية، وقال “ينبغي ألا يشكل ذلك مفاجأةً لأننا نتحدث عنه منذ وقت غير قصير. أود أن أؤكد أن 80 في المئة من ترسانتهم مؤلف من أسلحة تشملها معاهدة الأسلحة المتوسطة. ليس مفاجئا إذا أن نبدي رغبتنا في قدرات مماثلة”.
