أعلنت إدارة الطيران الفدرالية الأميركية أنّها ستجري اعتباراً من 29 نيسان/أبريل الجاري بمشاركة ممثّلين عن تسع سلطات طيران أجنبية تقييماً فنياً مشتركاً للتعديلات التي أدخلتها بوينغ على طائرتها من طراز ماكس 737.
وقالت الهيئة الناظمة لحركة الملاحة الجوية في الولايات المتّحدة إنّ هذا التقييم الفني سيقود إلى مراجعة شاملة يتمّ على أساسها إصدار ترخيص لنظام التحكّم الآلي بالطائرة أثناء الطيران.

وأوضحت الإدارة أنّه خلال هذه الفترة سيجري الخبراء تقييماً لمختلف جوانب نظام التحكّم الآلي بالطائرة أثناء الطيران، بما في ذلك تصميم النظام وتفاعل الطيارين معه، وذلك لتحديد مدى توافقه مع اللوائح المعمول بها وإدخال تحسينات عليه إذا ما تبيّن أنّها ضرورية.
وأضافت أنّ الجهات التسع التي سيشارك ممثّلون عنها في عملية التقييم هذهه هي سلطات الطيران المدني في كل من: أستراليا، البرازيل، كندا، الصين، الاتحاد الأوروبي (الوكالة الأوروبية لسلامة الطيران)، اليابان، إندونيسيا، سنغافورة والإمارات العربية المتحدة.
