قال مدير مديرية اثار الزرقاء بالوكالة عارف الدهيثم إن محافظة الزرقاء تحوي نحو 50 معلما تاريخيا وسياحيا ذات قيمة حضارية كبيرة .

وأشار الى أهمية الترويج للمواقع الأثرية السياحية في الزرقاء التي تشتهر بالقصور الصحراوية مثل قصر شبيب وقصر الحلابات وقصر عمرة وقصر حمام الصرح وقصر العويند وقلعة الأزرق والعديد من الخرب الأثرية مثل خربة الرصيفة وخربة البتراوي وخربة الودعة وغيرها ، فضلا عن صروح الدولمين «طاولات حجرية ضخمة مكونة من الصخور الصوانية الكبيرة «. وأكد ان مديرية آثار الزرقاء على استعداد لاستضافة أي فعاليات أو أنشطة ثقافية أو تاريخية في أي موقع أثري في المحافظة ضمن الضوابط المحددة والخاصة بالحفاظ على المواقع الأثرية ، حيث تتوفر جميع الخدمات في المواقع الأثرية السياحية.
وأشار الى ان مجلس محافظة الزرقاء» اللامركزية « وافق على مشروع ريادي على مستوى المملكة يتضمن إنشاء مركز للدراسات الأثرية يشتمل على متحف لعرض كل الآثار المستخرجة من التنقيبات بالمواقع الأثرية ، ومبنى لمديرية آثار الزرقاء، ومستودع للقطع الأثرية ومستودع للعدد واللوازم ، ومتنزه أثري ، مبينا ان طرح عطاء المشروع سيكون مطلع آب المقبل على أرض مساحتها نحو دونمين في منطقة جبل طارق بالزرقاء .ولفت إلى أن وجود متحف في المحافظة أصبحت حاجة ضرورية إذ أن الزرقاء هي المحافظة الوحيدة التي تفتقر الى متحف بالرغم من وجود آلاف القطع الأثرية المميزة التي تستحق العرض في مكان لائق ، اذ ان إنشاء متحف سيساهم بعرض تاريخ الزرقاء، حيث عاشت وازدهرت العديد من الحضارات على أرضها.
وقال الدهيثم ان إنشاء المتحف يعد فرصة ملائمة لزيادة عدد الزوار لمدينة الزرقاء وسيساهم بالاطلاع على تاريخ المحافظة عبر العديد من الاكتشافات الأثرية التي تمثل عدة عصور .
